One – pillar pagoda has the form of a large blooming lotus above the surface of a lake. It is built under the riegn of King Ly Thai Tong (1028-1054).
The peculiar feature of this arhitectural work is that the pagoda. Its floor is square, is supported by a stone pillar of 20 metres high driven deep into the bottom of the lake. It looks firmly fixed thanks to a system of brackets and at the same time very graceful and poetic like a lotus stretching its slender petals in all directions, reflecting in a square lake, a square represents the earth. Around the pagoda there is also complex of impressive and lovely architectural works.
